Internationalisation trip to Bangkok
Day 1: We tried all “Four Flavors” of Thai food at lunch. Then we dived into Museum Siam to understand what “thai-ness” is. We ended the day making our own keychains conducted by the Klong Bang Luang Community, a historical community along the canal.
Day 2: We spent the day immersed in their culture and learning about their school. Students even pulled off a performance for them! We also tried the khim, a traditional Thai hammered dulcimer, and made luk chup desserts by hand.
Day 3: Said goodbyes to our buddies at Matthayom Watnairong after exploring their elective classes. Then we visited the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the spiritual heart of Thailand and center of the Chakri Dynasty. We ended the night at Nopparat Thai Classical Dance and Restaurant with dinner and a cultural performance.
Day 4: Ayutthaya day
We explored Ayutthaya Historical Park, the former capital of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, walking through Wat Mahathat, Wat Ratchaburana, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Later we visited San Bao Gong Temple, one of the oldest temples, and stood before its massive seated Buddha with roots in early Chinese trade. So much history in one day!
